This week during the Maths lesson we started playing games called ‘MATHS ON FIRE’. We were divided into 4 groups and each group was given a task with matchsticks.
We had to remove or move a number of matchsticks and make:
- two triangles in the task called ‘Five into Two’
- five triangles in ‘Testing Triangles’
- five triangles in ‘ Trying Trigons’
- four triangles in ‘Eyes Closed ‘
We really enjoyed playing such games and had fun because we could talk and discuss about mathematical ideas, using mathematical vocabulary.
After extra questions involving perimeter, multiplication and prime numbers followed. We also learnt that there are 13 and not 12 in a baker’s dozen!!!
